Norah began her training at the Royal Irish Academy of Music where she graduated with a First Class Honours BA in Music Performance under renowned teacher Dr. Veronica Dunne, followed by postgraduate studies at the Royal Academy of Music under the tutelage of Elizabeth Ritchie.
Further studies were taken at Cardiff International Academy of Voice; and English National Opera’s Opera Works. She holds a DipRAM, is a Concordia and Samling Artist and a former Britten-Pears Young Artist, Samling and Bank of Ireland Millennium Scholar. An alumna of Opera Theatre Company’s Young Associate Artists Programme and Wexford Festival Opera’s Artists Development Programme, her awards include, The Clifton Prize, The Ernest Butcher Prize, an MBF Music Education Award, Acton Travel Bursary, the inaugural Irene Sandford Award for Singers, Tony Quigley Memorial Award, Gervais Elwes Memorial Cup and a Travel and Training Award from the Arts Council of Ireland.
Opera roles include, Tisbe La Cenerentola for the Lismore Opera Festival, Susanna Le nozze di Figaro for English Touring Opera and Opera A La Carte, Miss Jessel The Turn of the Screw for Aldeburgh Music and the Grimeborn Festival, Wood Sprite Rusalka for Lyric Opera Productions, and Two …and the Crowd (wept) for Tête à Tête: The Opera Festival, London.
On the concert platform Norah has appeared with the Shanghai Opera Orchestra, the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, Irish Garda Band, No.1 Army Band and the Portsmouth Festival Orchestra. She has performed for Irish Heritage, Criccieth Festival, Down’s Opera Fringe Festival, Dublin Handel Festival, Belfast Festival, Trinity Arts Festival, New Ross Piano Festival, The Mastersingers, Maria Callas International Club and The CIMA Festival in Tuscany. In 2009 Norah toured Japan with a programme of classical music and Irish culture performing at the Uchisaiwaicho Hall, Tokyo.
Oratorio includes Mozart’s Great Mass and Handel’s Messiah at the National Concert Hall, Dublin for Our Lady’s Choral Society under conductor Proinnsías Ó Duinn and the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, and Bach B Minor Mass with the Guinness Choir.
She has broadcast on RTÉ Radio 1, Spirit Radio and RTÉ’s lyric fm with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra. Norah has recorded for BBC Radio 3 In Tune, BBC Radio 4 PM and BBC Radio Ulster. Her television appearances include RTÉ Capital D, Nationwide and News2Day. Norah has performed the world premieres of Stephen McNeff Image in Stone, Paul Hayes Twilight of the Innocents and David Wallace Songs from the Rolling Deep. Norah has recorded Romanian composer Irina Odagescu Continuum Y with the London Schubert Players as part of A European Odyssey CD series.
Norah has participated in masterclasses with Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Sir Thomas Allen, Ugo Benelli, Dennis O’Neill, Roger Vignoles, Ileana Cotrubas, Della Jones, Ann Murray, Jane Eaglen and the late Philip Langridge. Norah has worked under many internationally acclaimed repetiteurs such as David Gowland, Brenda Hurley, Malcolm Martineau, Michael Pollock, Ingrid Surgenor and Phillip Thomas.
Film and TV acting credits include a leading role in comedy-horror The Gaelic Curse directed by the late Jack Conroy (DOP on The Field and Oscar Winning My Left Foot with Jim Sheridan) and produced by Edwina Forkin (Zanzibar Films) as well as TV Commercials for Google (UK), Keelings Fruit ‘Love to Grow’ Campaign and FujiFilm Instax.
